Oct. 24, 1917 — BIG BONFIRE TONIGHT

To follow the custom being adopted throughout the United States, Sandpoint will participate in a great liberty loan bonfire tonight, and every citizen in the city is urged to be present. Rubbish of all descriptions will be piled on the Farmin lot, corner of Cedar and Second, and burned. This method of arousing interest in the liberty loan is universal, even the children in rural schools have been busy gathering rubbish which they will burn tonight. Don’t forget and if you feel like it, bring along apples, potatoes or other things you care to bake in the coals after the flames die away.

Many people think the Jefferson school is “away out.” From the corner of First avenue and Cedar street it is one block farther than the Lincoln and one block nearer than the Washington school.
