Oct. 26, 1967 — HOMECOMING COURT

Vivian Russell was crowned SHS homecoming queen last Friday at the Sandpoint-Pullman half-time ceremonies. The court, all seniors, included Princesses Carolyn Trunnell, Kay Studebaker, Blanche Cramer and Bobbi Black and Queen Vivian Russell. Escorts were Bruce Green, Bob Puckett, Steve Payne, Mark VanStone, Bob Klatt.

ODEN-SUNNYSIDE NEWS

At a meeting of the Oden residents, the Oden Water District was organized. Within the next 30 days, another meeting will be announced. Those who wish to become members are required to make a deposit within the next three weeks.

JUNIORS GET CEMETERY DONATIONS

Sandpoint Junior Federated Women’s Club has provided seven loads of top soil for Bonner County Cemetery. Wednesday morning Commissioner James Brockway, assisted by Mike Plaster, hauled the loads of earth, donated by Frank Linscott. Truck driver was Vic Clary. Oliver Zordell and Dewey Brown also helped.

Raymond Delay Jr. was chosen to represent the Sandpoint Senior High FFA at the FFA National Convention in Kansas City Oct. 9-12.

Mrs. Chris Peterson Monday received a letter from her brother, Bryan Murray, a wireless student on the San Diego of the U.S. navy, saying the fleet of which his boat was a part had just arrived in New York from convoying a transport ship to France. He had every reason to believe his brother, Jack Murray, was on the transport, but had no means of communicating with him.

LACLEDE NEWS

A strong wind and weak cable caused Ferry man Green and his boat to take a short cruise up river Wednesday morning. A.C. White’s rig convoyed them safely to their moorage.

The Liberty Bond fire last Tuesday evening was attended by a fair-sized crowd.

PACK RIVER NEWS

There have been three new arrivals recently in the neighborhood. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Evans, Oct. 12; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Look, Oct. 19, and a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Palmer, Oct. 23. All progressing nicely.

A fair-sized crowd came out last Tuesday for the Red Cross bonfire at Gravel Point. After speeches, singing “America” and discussing food conservation, the crowd gathered around the immense bonfire and roasted “wieners” abetted by buns and coffee.
