Luce, Ballard claim wins at district championships

COEUR d’ALENE — Jacob Ballard won the 200 IM, Miles Luce the 100 breast and Payton Bokowy the 50 and 100 free, leading the Bulldog boys and girls teams to third place finishes at the North Idaho district swim championships Saturday at the Kroc Center.
Ellie McCray, Mikayla Schoening, Kate Bokowy and Payton Bokowy teamed up to win the 200 free relay by nearly five seconds, and figure to be one of the teams to beat at state. The same four finished second in the 400 free by less than .5 seconds, and the Bulldog girls did not win their meet for the first time this season.
Kate Bokowy was third in the 200 IM to round out the Bulldog girls in the top three.
Ballard was also second in the 200 IM, and teamed with Garrett Bamer, William Dorman and Luce to finish second in the 200 free relay.
The Bulldogs will take 15 kids to state this weekend in Boise, with prelims on Friday and finals on Saturday.
