After God's Heart begins Wednesday
After God’s Heart, a community Bible study for women, alternates each year between the Old and New testaments. Based on 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians, “New Creatures in Christ,” begins this fall on Wednesday, Sept. 6. All women are welcome.
This year’s study is called “New Creatures in Christ” because 2nd Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold all things have become new.”
The apostle Paul founded the church at Corinth during his second missionary journey and spent 1 1/2 years teaching the Word of God there. After he left they struggled to separate themselves from the evil culture around them.
The apostle Paul founded the church at Corinth during his second missionary journey. There, he spent a year and a half teaching the Word of God. After he left, believers struggled to separate themselves from the evil culture around them. Paul’s very practical 1st letter will teach us that wrong living comes from wrong beliefs. There is a wisdom that only comes from God. We still need that wisdom today since we also live in an evil age.
Paul’s second letter is all about encouragement. We will learn that God, the Father, is the merciful comforter who can turn every trial into triumph. We will learn to have peace and joy because we know the One who holds our future, and it is going to be wonderful. Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ as 1 Corinthians 15:57 says. And that victory is over death itself!
After God’s Heart is led by women from various churches, who believe it is a blessing for them to meet together “in one accord” to study God’s inerrant Word. This women’s Bible study has been an ongoing study in the community for 26 years. We encourage old and new members to join us in worship, fellowship and Bible study.
After God’s Heart meets on Wednesdays, 9-11 a.m., at North Summit Church, 201 N. Division. Please enter through the canopy covered doors from the rear parking lot. The group takes a break from Thanksgiving to New Years and will conclude this study at the end of April. There is free child care for children from birth to kindergarten. Cost for the year’s materials is $15 and scholarships are available. Coffee is hot at 8:30 a.m.
