Bonner, N. Idaho animal hospitals merging

SANDPOINT — Dr. John Moody opened the doors of Bonner Animal Hospital in 1977 and has served the veterinary medical needs of Bonner County residents throughout the subsequent 40 years.

“I am honored to live in this amazing community and it is a pleasure to continue to provide veterinary services here,” says Moody, “I am lucky to have a profession which offers something new everyday. The job is always interesting and challenging, but it is the relationships that are unbelievably rewarding.”

Friday, Dr. Moody announced that, on Sept. 5, he would be merging his hospital with North Idaho Animal Hospital, another high-quality small animal hospital that has operated in Sandpoint for 23 years. The merger allows Moody to continue practicing with long-time colleagues and friends, while also providing the opportunity to travel and spend more time with his family.

“Dr. Moody opened his arms to us when we started our business,” said Dr. Robert Pierce of North Idaho Animal Hospital, “He has always been an outstanding colleague.”

Pierce’s spouse, business partner, and fellow veterinarian, Dr. Dawn Mehra, have both been Moody fans since they moved north from central Idaho in 1994.

“Originally, I did my homework,” says Mehra, “He was the best guy in town and I wanted to work for him. At that point, he didn’t really need any help and so we started our own practice. John, and his wife Ginny, have been so kind and generous to us over the years, that this merger seemed inevitable.”

Bonner Animal Hospital will move records and staff to the newer and larger North Idaho Animal Hospital facility at 320 S. Ella (across from Dairy Depot on Highway 2) and will continue to provide services at this new location.

“Dr. Moody loves his profession,” Pierce said. “And veterinary medicine, like human medicine, becomes more than what you do — it becomes who you are. We are so happy and honored that he has joined us. Our goal is to help him continue to enjoy his profession, while taking away some of the ‘heavy lifting.’ Running a small business, in these times, is exhausting and Dr Moody deserves some help at this point.”

North Idaho Animal Hospital is open six days a week and has five doctors on staff — including Moody. The practice can be found online at idahovet.com and any questions or comments are welcome at 208-265-5700 or email to ask@idahovet.com.
