Elaine Armetta Emry, 89

Elaine Armetta Emry, 89, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Memorial services will be held at America’s Promise Church at a later date. Burial will be in the Green Acres Cemetery in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Elaine was born on June 26, 1928 in Gilman, Wis., to George and Mary Groves. She grew up and atte

nded schools in Gilman. She married Sheldon Emry on Sept. 6, 1947, in Wisconsin. The couple made their home in Minneapolis and started a family. In 1967, they moved to Phoenix, where Sheldon became pastor of the Lord’s Covenant Church. Sheldon died in 1985, and Elaine later moved to Sandpoint in 2004 to be closer to family.

She enjoyed gardening, playing the organ, and crocheting for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha (David) Barley of Sandpoint; two sons, Brian (Denise) Emry of Sacramento, Calif., and Mark (Loralei) Emry of Colorado Springs, Colo; 22 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Gregory Emry; two brothers, Irving and Orlo Groves; and one sister, Phyllis Smith.
