Vikings sweep Bulldogs

| September 8, 2017 1:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Grace Hicks led the Bulldogs (4-3) with nine kills, six assists and four digs, but it wasn’t enough, as Sandpoint was swept 25-22, 25-16, 25-20 by 5A Couer d’Alene on Thursday night in nonleague volleyball action at Elmer Jordan Court.

Grace Kirscher added three kills and two blocks, Marina Breuner 16 assists, Kaitlan Ward six digs and Jaz Stockton and Shelby Kluver four kills apiece in defeat for the Bulldogs (4-3), who improved from their loss Tuesday to Lake City.

“We made fewer errors and progressed tonight. Jaz Stockton had a rock star showing at the middle, and Grace Hicks was steady as well,” said Bulldogs head coach Erin Roos, lauding the energy freshman Gabby Hicks brought to the court. “Gabby came into set two and fired up the team and tallied some good stats. We will get another shot at the Vikings at home.”

Sandpoint, which has shown the ability to play at high levels for stretches, is at the Lakeland Invite on Saturday as they look to keep making strides.
