Wampus Cats trounce Tigers in league clash
CLARK FORK — Brooke Stevens posted 16 assists and seven aces and Hailey Bristol four kills and six aces, as the Wampus Cats ripped 22 aces as a team, sweeping the Tigers 25-8, 25-13, 25-8 on Thursday night in North Star League volleyball action at Clark Fork High School.
The Wampus Cats (6-0, 2-0 NSL) had a bunch of service errors in their league opener at Kootenai, and made that a point of emphasis against Mullan.
“Our biggest weakness was our serving, which the girls did a great job of turning it around tonight,” said Cats head coach Cindy Derr. “We had 22 service aces with only four service errors.”
Tessa Sutton finished with six kills, Ellie Lambert seven digs anchoring the back row at libero, Ellie Kiebert several long service runs and some nice kills, and Jadyn Delay put up a solid block in the middle as the Cats controlled the action from the start.
“It’s great to get the bench players in and get them some court time,” said Derr, who went 10 deep. “Our attitude was a big factor in the win tonight, as Tuesday we were playing sluggish even though we were able to fight through and win.”
Clark Fork travels to Bonners Ferry on Monday night, facing their second 3A opponent of the season as they look to remain undefeated.
