I am an American who lives in Idaho. At the end of July I had surgery in San Diego on my ankle to remove painful hardware. I paid nothing for the pre-surgery doctor’s visits, tests, X-rays, anesthesia, surgery, hospital or follow-up visits. I had a choice of which doctors and surgeons I wanted to see. I pay $250/month for health insurance that guarantees all of this.

When making the decision about whether to seek care, I did not have to weigh cost or quality. What a sense of freedom.

How is this possible in America? I am on Medicare and my insurance policy is a med-gap policy that covers EVERYTHING in the gap, including the medicare deductible. Medicare also covers pre-existing conditions.

Think about what Medicare for all would mean for you. Then, call oursenators and ask them to vote against the healthcare bill this weekend. And afterwards, try to construct a plan that will help all of us.
