Bulldogs show fight in loss to Timberwolves
SANDPOINT — Allison Munday hammered 13 kills to help Post Falls hold off Sandpoint 25-14, 25-23, 27-25 in nonleague volleyball action Tuesday night at Les Rogers Court.
Kayla Maya tallied 21 set assists, Mackenzie Morris 11 digs and Tessa Sarff nine kills and three blocks for the Trojans (16-8), who had to work to earn the season sweep.
“We played with a lot of resiliency tonight,” said Trojans head coach Matt Barkley. “Sandpoint’s a great team, they didn’t give up and we battled back.”
Grace Hicks led the Bulldogs (7-11) with eight kills and two aces, against just one hitting error, while Jazmin Stockton added nine kills, Marina Breuner 24 assists and freshman Gabby Hicks nine digs in defeat.
Sandpoint showed some grit in the second two sets, but could not break through against a defensively sound Trojan squad.
“They kept their composure, kept swinging away and being aggressive,” praised Bulldog head coach Erin Roos of her team, which had nearly as many hitting errors as kills on the night. “Eliminate some of the hitting errors and we’re in there.”
The Bulldogs are at Lake City tonight against another tough 5A team.
