FALL INTO FUN AS OCTOBER BRINGS PLENTY OF OPTIONS

SANDPOINT – We prepare to take the big swing into October and the transition from one month to another promises big doings in town.

For one thing, the legendary funksters of RFB are playing Friday night at the 219 Lounge and country artist Devon Wade has a CD party that night at MickDuff’s Beer Hall. Meanwhile, the Panida boasts both a film festival and a Saturday night concert with two excellent tribute bands playing music from The Doors and Creedence.

Also Saturday, it’s 100,000 Poets for Change at Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters.

So much to do, so little time!

Thursday, Sept. 28

‘Manhattan Short Film Festival’

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7:30 p.m.

It’s back for its 20th Anniversary. Never seen on Cable, VOD, or anywhere else. Come see it in your hometown historic theater. The 10 best films out of 1,615 entries from 75 countries and we are one of just 250 cities that will be screening these films. Your vote counts when you fill out the ballot you are handed when you walk in the door. Some content could be adult themed, use caution with children.

Right Front Burner (RFB)

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 9 p.m.

This is Sandpoint’s funk, disco, rock and groove band – arguably the funkiest trio you’ll see in the Inland Northwest, whose years of music experience shines through with every glistening note. With the power to make any booty shake, RFB is here to help you get your groove on!

POAC ‘Arts Grow Learning’ Opening

Devon Wade CD Party

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Debuting his self-titled album ‘Devon Wade,’ MickDuff’s Beer Hall is excited to welcome the Devon Wade Band for a Brewery Bash! You’ll get to hear his new songs ‘Beer Me, and ‘Show Me The Cash.’

The Riff Hangers

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5-8 p.m.

High-energy, good-time music with a strong group of local musicians.

Saturday, Sept. 30

100,000 Poets for Change

Venue: Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters, 524 Church St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 1-4 p.m.

Lost Horse Press and the Bonner County Human Rights Task Force team up for the fifth year to present a poetry and music open mic for local writers, musicians, artists and students to express their ideas for positive change during 100,000 Poets for Change. Admission: Free and open to the public.

Crosstoberfest bike races

Venue: University of Idaho Extension, 2501 N. Boyer.

Time: First race at 9 a.m., final race at 2:45 p.m.

Cyclocross is a unique form of bike racing where racers ride over dirt, gravel, sand, water, hills and dales - much like a running steeplechase race. Lots of fun for both riders and spectators. Races all day Saturday and Sunday. This event benefits Team Autism 24/7.

Doors Experience and Creedence Tribute

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: Pre-show at 6 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m.

Two great bands in one amazing night on the Panida stage! Along with strikingly good recreations of these iconic groups and their lead singers, the performance features a trippy, psychedelic video show.

Folkinception

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 9 p.m.

Folkinception, voted Best Original Band in the 2017 Inlander Readers Poll, has been a Spokane favorite since forming in 2011, blending rustic Americana with the kind of slick, melodic pop-folk you might hear on a Top 40 station. They’re also a lot of fun to watch live.

Venue: Sandpoint Farmers Market, Farmin Park, Third Ave. & Oak St., downtown Sandpoint.

Time: Market starts at 9 a.m., music from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

There’s nothing like live music floating through the air as you stroll through our magical farmer’s market.

Monarch Mountain Band at Pend d’Oreille Winery

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5-8 p.m.

Foot-stompin’ fun is always on the menu when this band takes the stage!

Hoptoberfest

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

The Beer Hall is geared up for the 4th annual Hoptoberfest celebration of harvest and annual crops of barley and hops! To celebrate, they’ve brewed up a couple of Wet Hop IPAs and will also be featuring their annual Mashing Pumpkin Ale and the collaboration RoggenFest Ale with Paragon Brewing on tap, plus more to come.

Games will be played: Cornhole, Hammerschlagen and more. Plus, you’ll be rocking out with Kevin Dorin from 2-5 p.m. and The Other White Meat from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Head of the Pend Oreille Rowing Regatta

Venue: The “Mudhole’ recreation area, just east of Priest River.

Time: 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Join the races, the food and the fun as crews from the Inland Northwest and Canada converge for Idaho’s only rowing Regatta. The weekend event features rowing competition and a barbecue.

Admission: Regatta events free and open to the public. Barbecue tickets are $15 adults, $7.50 for those 12 and under.

Buckethead with Brain & Brewer

Venue: The Bing Crosby Theater, 909 W. First Ave., in Spokane.

Time: 8 p.m.

Buckethead is best known for his electric guitar playing. The former Guns N’ Roses axeman has been voted number 8 on a list in GuitarOne magazine of the ‘Top 10 Greatest Guitar Shredders of All Time.’

Boobs n’ Beer Garden

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: Noon.-4 p.m.

MickDuff’s Beer Hall has teamed up with the 7B Women’s Boobs and Beer 5K Fun Run for their beer garden and Sandpoint Family Friendly Oktoberfest, raising funds for Celebrate Life and Community Cancer Services.

Live music with local favorites Harold’s IGA, multiple local food trucks and a Kid’s Zone featuring face painting and more! If you want to participate in the run, you’ll get your first beer for free.

Drink a beer from Ecliptic Brewing and you’ll help KLT protect Pine Street Woods, a community forest open to all for recreation, education and searching for Sasquatch.
