Bristol powers Wampus Cats to sweep of Jaguars
CLARK FORK — Hailey Bristol hammered seven kills to go with five digs and two aces, and Brooke Stevens set 16 assists to lead the Wampus Cats to a 25-20, 25-16, 25-14 sweep of Genesis Prep on Thursday night in North Star League volleyball at Clark Fork High School.
The Wampus Cats (11-2, 7-0 NSL) used the energy of homecoming week to start fast and never slowed down.
“There were signs and a wall of blue and gold in the gym tonight as the girls ran into the gym in the dark with glow sticks and then threw the glow sticks up into the crowd,” described head coach Cindy Derr. “All of that started the momentum of the game. The football boys exploded with loud cheers point after point.”
Tessa Sutton had three huge blocks against 6-foot-3 Bella Murakatete, while Ellie Kiebert added four kills and five digs, Ellie Lambert six digs and Grace Shelton two aces in the win. Long service runs by Stevens, Bristol and Sutton were key in the final two sets.
“Genesis Prep came to play and played a better game than they gave us on last Saturday,” said Derr. “We never looked back and put away the match.”
