7B Women welcomes Rachel Jeffs
SANDPOINT — Her father is the notorious Warren Jeffs, the polygamist who established a cult outside of mainstream Mormonism and federal law, fathered over 50 children, had over 70 wives and is now in prison for the remainder of his life for the abuse he inflicted.
Rachel Jeffs is the second child of Warren Jeffs’. She endured years of abuse and isolation and was forced into a polygamous marriage herself. On many occasions, she was kept away from her children for perceived transgressions and longed to be with them. Then, one day in 2015 with her five children and the help of others on the outside, Rachel was able to escape the isolation and abuse she had endured her entire life. Her resilience and faith are inspiring.
Rachel now lives in North Idaho and will be the guest speaker at 7B Women’s April luncheon. She has published a riveting book, Breaking Free, which provides an in-depth look at her life while growing up all the way through when she escaped.
“Her courage, determination and resilience are only outshined by her devotion to her children,” said 7B Women vice-chair Patty Hutchens. “Once I started reading her book, I could not put it down. She embodies everything that 7B Women is about — empowering women to succeed.”
The luncheon will take place on Tuesday, April 10 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tango Café and is open to everyone in the community, men and women. The cost is $21 or $16 if you are a member of 7B Women, Inc. Individual memberships cost $35 per year and can be paid online at the group’s website, 7BWomen.com.
Please note that due to the high participation in the past and so Tango Café can adequately prepare for the luncheon, pre-registration is highly encouraged. “If this is a topic that interests you, as it will many, we recommend registering online right away,” said 7B Women Secretary Gina Hall, pointing out that the last luncheon was a sellout.
If people would like an opportunity to promote their business at the luncheon, attendees are asked to bring an item to raffle and will be given a “minute with the mic” during the course of the luncheon.

Also, the Third Annual 7B Women’s Clothing Swap to benefit Priest River Ministries Advocates for Women will be held on May 3 at the Cedar Street Bridge. If you have gently used clothing you would like to donate, please feel free to bring what you have to the luncheon or drop it off. Other drop off locations include Washington Trust Bank on Fifth Avenue and Columbia Bank, downtown branch.
