SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint JV baseball team was raking last Saturday, pounding out 32 hits in a 10-2, 16-6 doubleheader sweep of Moscow on Saturday at Pine St. Field.

Caleb Davis picked up his second win of the season in the opener, allowing just two runs and striking out six in five-plus innings. He also helped his own cause at the plate by going 2-4 with a single and a triple and two RBIs. Max Thielbahr also had a big game offensively, ripping a double among his three hits while also scoring three runs.

Game two was a huge breakout game for the offense, with everyone in the lineup contributing. Anthony Arroyo went 4-4 with a double, and was responsible for nine of the 16 runs by driving in five and scoring four runs. Cameron Garcia added three RBIs and Ethan Edlund was strong behind the plate in his first start at catcher. Edlund also had a double and an early sacrifice bunt that helped break the game open.

“It was a very solid outing in all facets of the game,” claimed JV head coach Matt Thompson, whose team has now won three straight after dropping the first two. “Even though this was the first time we put cleats on our home dirt, it didn’t matter. It goes to show that whether it’s on a gym floor, a mezzanine, or a parking lot, if you put the work in good things will happen for you. Very proud of everyone top to bottom.”

The JVs return to action April 12 against Lakeland.
