SANDPOINT — What do the four players in the above photo all have in common? They each got better by participating in Sandpoint American Legion Baseball over the years and have all committed to college baseball programs this fall.

Caleb Edlund is currently playing for the College of the Siskiyous, while Jacob Cometto (Oregon Tech), Thomas Riley (Idaho State University) and Preston Pettit (Southern Virginia University) are part of a recent wave of college bound players from the area.

Registration is now open for the 2018 Summer Legion Baseball Season. North Idaho Post 15 will be hosting three teams this season and registration is open to any players ages 13 through 19 years-old. Register by April 26 and receive a $100 early bird discount off your player registration fee. Registration forms and additional information can be found at www.facebook.com/groups/NIALB or by contacting the team directly at northidahodawgs@gmail.com.

Some important dates to remember are Opening Day Ceremonies at War Memorial Field on Saturday, May 26, as the U19 squad takes on the Moscow Blue Devils.

The first-ever “For the Love of the Game” golf scramble fundraiser will be held on Sunday, June 3 at Stoneridge Golf Resort. Registration starts at noo, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Hole sponsorships and team registration forms can be obtained by visiting Bill Connolly at North Idaho Spas or by emailing the team at northidahodawgs@gmail.com

The “Battle at the Beach Wood Bat Tournament” will be held on June 15-17 in Sandpoint, just one of the highlights of the summer season.
