Graf returns home to SL

The city of Spirit Lake welcomed home one of its own on Tuesday.

Longtime community volunteer Catherine Graf, 77, was seriously injured on Feb. 3 when she was struck by a vehicle while walking in a pedestrian crosswalk in Spirit Lake.

Graf’s injuries were critical and she was hospitalized.

Graf returned home Tuesday, where she will continue recovering, according to Spirit Lake spokeswoman Heather McDaniel.

The incident in which Graf was injured prompted calls for increased safety for pedestrians along Highway 41, which runs through the city.
