| April 18, 2018 1:00 AM

Join outdoor educational specialist and field ornithologist Brian Baxter for a “Spring Birding Fling” class Saturday, April 21, at North Idaho College at Sandpoint, located at 102 South Euclid.

Register by contacting the NIC Workforce Training Center at 208-769-3214 or request more information by emailing workforcetraining@nic.edu. The class will meet at the south end of NIC at Sandpoint at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 21. Children over 10 years old are welcome with an enrolled adult. The cost of the class is $49.

“Spring birding is exploding right now. We will visit a few local hotspots to locate, identify, and perhaps photograph our beautiful winged creatures,” Baxter said. “All levels of birders are welcome. Focus on raptors, waterfowl, tree-clinging birds, and passerines. Bring your binoculars or spotting scopes, bird book, lunch and dress appropriately for an outdoor hiking adventure.”

Baxter has degrees in both Forestry and Wildlife Management with more than 40 years of experience working in wildlife fields as well as more than 15 years teaching outdoor educational programs.
