Larson, Stockton lead Bulldogs to split with Hawks

RATHDRUM — Alex Stockton had three hits and scored three times, and Tyrone Larson pitched another gem as the Bulldogs bounced back to win the second game 12-2 and earn a doubleheader split with Lakeland on Thursday in 4A Inland Empire League baseball at Gorton Field.

Dylan Bradbury and Garrett Moen drove in three runs each to spark the Hawks (9-8, 2-2 4A IEL) past the Bulldogs (7-3, 2-2 4A IEL) 12-6 in the first game. Preston Pettit held the Hawks scoreless into the fourth, when the Bulldogs let a one run lead to disappear by allowing seven runs in the fourth.

Trey Flint had three hits, and Tyler Lehman and Tyrone Larson two each, as the Bulldogs out-hit the Hawks 12-10 in defeat, unable to cash in the base runners.

In the nightcap, Larson pitched into the sixth inning to earn his second win, and the Bulldogs allowed just five hits in a convincing win. Huner Donahoe added a pair of hits, as the Bulldogs cashed in their opportunities to remain even in league play.

“We came out really flat in the second game and just didn’t play well in all phases of the game,” Lakeland coach Jason Bradbury said.

Sandpoint hosts Timberlake on Monday.
