Wampus Cats and Panthers tangle

| April 20, 2018 1:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Clark Fork won three of the 10 tennis matches played against Coeur d’Alene Charter on Wednesday at Cherry Hill Park, in a mixture of girls singles, boys doubles, girls doubles and mixed doubles matches.

Even though they technically lost the dual 7-3, the team was just thrilled to be out playing in the first nice tennis weather of the season so far, with several matches canceled.

“Clark Fork only plays half as many matches as other teams because we don’t have the courts for home matches. So when you miss or have matches canceled they lose a big portion of their season,” said Cats head coach Jeff Emmer. “I was very pleased to see all of my players getting stronger and playing with more confidence as the day progressed.”

The Wampus Cats travel to Lewiston on Saturday.
