SANDPOINT — Strong pitching, and plenty of run support, added up to a 5-3, 22-3 sweep for Sandpoint over Lakeland in JV baseball on Thursday in Rathdrum.

Darren Bailey tossed three no-hit innings to close out a close win in the opener, as Caleb Davis, Dillan Mitton and Ethan Edlund all had multi-hit games to help pace the offense, which out-hit rival Lakeland 9-6 in the opener. “

The Bulldogs plated nine runs in the second inning of the second game, blowing the game open and capitalizing on a lot of walks by the Hawks to post a season-high 22 runs. Conrad Becker, Carter Envik and Ethan Edlund combined to hold Lakeland hitters to just two hits over five innings, while the Bulldogs pounded out 12 hits in the comfortable win.

“We had a fantastic day,” said JV head coach Matt Thompson. “The offense broke out in a big way in game two.”

The JV team is at Timberlake on Monday.
