Simko picks up wins in both girls doubles, singles

LEWISTON — Lily Simko and Grace Shelton scored an 8-6 win over Clearwater Valley, and a 9-7 win over Orofino at No. 1 girls doubles to lead Clark Fork last Saturday in Lewiston.

Madison Williams beat Clearwater 6-4, lost 8-1 to Clearwater and 8-0 to Orofino. Blaine Williams and Wesley Simko lost 8-0 to Clearwater, then beat Orofino 8-2 and another Orofino team 9-7 to finish with two wins on the day.

Lily Simko beat Grangeville 8-6 in singles, and Blaine and Madison Williams teamed up for a 8-3 win over Grangeville in mixed doubles.

Wampus Cat head coach Jeff Emmer called it a good day.

“I was pleased to see how my players matched up to our league. Particularly Grace and Lily,” said Emmer, noting Shelton had to leave early for volleyball. “Lily did a nice job playing singles the rest of the day. First year players Blaine, Madison and Wes are improving rapidly every match.”

WORLEY — Wade Stevens shot a 90 to finish 8th among the boys, and Brooke Stevens a 105 to finish 7th among the girls at the Lakeside Invitational on Monday at Circling Raven.
