Bulldog girls take team title at Lakeland Relays

RATHDRUM — Lakeland’s boys and Sandpoint’s girls won team titles at the Lakeland Relays, hosted by Lakeland High on Tuesday. The event combines the top three marks from each team in field events.

Sandpoint’s Elaine Huang cleared a personal best 5-0 to win the high jump, Maddy Morgan won both the long jump (15-2) and triple jump (32-2), and Hannah Davidson cleared a personal best 9-3 to win the pole vault to lead the Bulldog girls. Other top five girls included Victoria Aylward taking fifth in the shot (29-11) and Paige Davidson fifth in the pole vault (7-0).

Ammon Ollerton won the high jump (5-10) and was fourth in the triple jump (37-2), Walker Hermann was second in the long jump (17-10), Sam Diercks was third in the pole vault (11-6), Christian Niemela was third in the long jump (17-8), Dustin Norris was fifth in the long jump (16-9) and Robbie Johnson was fifth in the pole vault (11-0) to round out the top five Bulldogs.

“This meet is always one that the kids enjoy. It is a great workout for this point of season, and the kids can relax and enjoy competing with each other before some of the bigger meets during championship season,” said Bulldogs head coach Matt Brass. “Our throwers continue to improve, setting multiple personal records. Kaelon Curto threw a 40 plus foot PR last week and has added to it two times now. Elaine finally got that 5-0 she has been chasing, and Hannah went over 9 feet for the first time ever. Both girls and boys are looking very good heading into Regionals in two weeks.”

The girls distance medley (400/400/800/1,600) team of Ciera Bailey, Paige Davidson, Hannah Davidson and Niah Brass finished first in 10:15.

Sandpoint is at Timberlake on Friday.
