Week is packed with plenty of fun things to do

SANDPOINT ­­— Wow — what a week! The Festival at Sandpoint hosts its annual wine tasting at the fairgrounds on Friday night and Team Autism hosts the film ‘Wonder,’ also Friday evening. Saturday boasts the Spring for Sandpoint downtown shopping event and POAC’s presentation of MCT and local kids in the play, ‘Aladdin.’

Saturday night, the Bridges Home Trio makes a homecoming to MickDuff’s Beer Hall – the room where the group got its start.

Thursday, April 26

Justin Lantrip

The Thursday night solo music series features long-time local and talented musician, Justin Lantrip. Join him for a great night of tunes from one of Sandpoint’s favorites.

Friday, April 27

Wine Festival at Sandpoint

Venue: Bonner County Fairgrounds, in Sandpoint.

Time: 5:30 p.m.

This Festival at Sandpoint event features unlimited tastings of 150-plus premier wines, a catered gourmet dinner by Dish, silent and live auctions, musical entertainment by Brown Salmon Truck, plus the announcement of this year’s poster artist.

Team Autism 24/7 hosts ‘Wonder’ film

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6:30 p.m.

‘Wonder’ is the story of August Pullman. Born with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school. As his family, his new classmates, and the larger community all struggle to find their compassion and acceptance, Auggie’s extraordinary journey will unite them all.

‘Final Portrait’

‘Final Portrait’ is the story of the touching and offbeat friendship between American writer and art-lover James Lord and Alberto Giacometti, as seen through Lord’s eyes and revealing unique insight into the beauty, frustration, profundity and sometimes the chaos of the artistic process.

‘Aladdin’

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Take a magic carpet ride with Missoula Children’s Theatre’s adaptation of Aladdin on Saturday, April 28th, at the Panida Theater. For over 15 years, the Pend Oreille Arts Council has brought the Missoula Children’s Theatre to Sandpoint, giving local children the opportunity to rehearse and perform on stage. You’ll be amazed by what they learn in only five days!

Kinderhaven & BGH present ‘Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory’

The multi-generational classic kid’s movie is being presented free compliments of Kinderhaven and Bonner General Health. See it on the big screen and share it with the whole family.

Spring for Sandpoint downtown shopping event

Venue: Downtown Sandpoint

Time: 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Shop downtown to support local nonprofit organizations during the Spring for Sandpoint event. Participating merchants team up with nonprofits for a day to support our vibrant community. Enjoy special sales, product demonstrations, food and beverage samples, kids’ activities, gift certificates and prizes.

A portion of the shopping proceeds from the day will be donated to participating nonprofits. Join your friends and neighbors to shop local, save local and give local.

Bridges Home Trio

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 312 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6:30 p.m.

It’s a full circle homecoming for Bridges Home, as our group got its start in this very same venue way back when it was still the Pend d’Oreille Winery! Bridges Home is a local band of Tami, Dave and Paul Gunter – a trio of lead vocalists and multi-instrumentalists, performing transformed Americana, Celtic, Roots and lots of originals. Bridges Home lays shimmering harmonies over a changing line-up of instruments and a unique take on three-part foot percussion to drive the music forward.

‘Share the Love’ scholarship art auction

Venue: Art Works Gallery, 214 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5-7:30 p.m. for final bidding

Through ‘Share the Love,’ artists at the Art Works Gallery donate a piece of their art work (typically with a heart or love theme) and these items are placed in a silent auction. All of the proceeds from the auction go to a scholarship fund and awarded to a local graduating senior who will be continuing schooling in the arts.

Social Dance

Venue: Sandpoint Community Hall, 204 S. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7-10 p.m.

Come celebrate the fun tradition of social dancing in Sandpoint with this casual get-together. This fun event starts with a one-hour Country Two-Step lesson taught by a professional instructor from 7-8 pm, followed by general dancing, refreshments, door prizes, mixers, and a drawing for one month of free dance lessons. Singles, couples and all levels of dancers are welcome.

Admission: $9 adults, $6 members and $5 teens. USA Dance events are alcohol and tobacco free.

Hope 5K Pie Run/Walk

Venue: Hope Memorial Community Center, in Hope.

Time: 9 a.m. start time (arrive early to enter)

It’s the best dang pie run in Idaho – and who doesn’t love a great slice of pie (or two)?

Admission: $5 and a pie (one pie per couple or family).

Kaniksu Land Trust

Venue: Rex Theater, downtown Thompson Falls, Mont.

Time: Doors at 6 p.m., films start at 7 p.m.

The tour is being brought to Thompson Falls by the Lower Clark Fork Watershed Group, Sanders County Flycasters, the Panhandle chapter of Trout Unlimited, and the Kaniksu Land Trust. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Rex Theater.

Admission: $8 at the door.
