Wilks fires sizzling 78 to lead Bulldog boys golfers

HAYDEN — Lake Wilks was on fire Friday, carding a season-best 78 to lead the Bulldog boys golfers at the Kraus Invitational at Avondale Golf Club in Hayden.

“That’s an outstanding score. He was sixth out of all the boys,” lauded Bulldog head coach Tom Tharp, whose boys team struggled with a score of 379. “Lakeland was 10 strokes better, but we’re closing the gap. The rest of the boys had terrible days, a lot of out of bounds. We’ve got a few more rounds to go.”

Hattie Larson posted a team-best 94, the lone Bulldog girl to break 100 on a tough Hayden Lake Country Club course.

Former Bulldog Jack Reeves shot a 73 to earn medalist honors for Gonzaga Prep, which claimed the boys team title by five strokes over the Vikings.

The boys and girls team will be in action when the Bulldogs play host to the Sandpoint Invitational on Monday at The Idaho Club.
