Support Idaho Gives

| April 29, 2018 1:00 AM

Idaho nonprofits do an immeasurable amount of good for our state, bringing crucial services, entertainment, outdoor adventures and more to our citizens. Additionally, Idaho’s over 7,000 nonprofit organizations add $2.81 billion to the state’s economy and over 55,000 jobs annually.

But what kind of an impact do Bonner County nonprofits have? In short, a big one.

I lived in Sandpoint for five years, and during that time I was blown away by the generosity and sense of community shared by its residents. Back then, as President of the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce, I learned that Bonner County (and North Idaho in general) has a larger percentage of nonprofits per capital than our state’s larger communities.

Now as President of the Idaho Nonprofit Center, it’s my job to help ensure that all nonprofits from every pocket of the Gem state have the chance to be heard, to raise funds, and to increase awareness about their missions.

One of the ways we do that is through Idaho Gives, a 24-hour day of online giving where any nonprofit that has registered to participate can raise funds to ensure they can continue doing great work in their communities.

Last year, Bonner County nonprofits raised over $13,000 through Idaho Gives, but I know that with community support they can do even better this year. There are 17 registered nonprofit organizations in Bonner County just waiting for you.

While I no longer live in Sandpoint, I’ll never forget the kindness and generosity of that entire community. I miss it - the small-town atmosphere and all the lovely caring people that live there.

I encourage my friends in Sandpoint and Bonner County to visit IdahoGives.org on May 3 and give somewhere. Anywhere. Find what matters to you at IdahoGives.org and help ensure the work can continue.
