| August 1, 2018 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — It’s been a crazy whirlwind for Sandpoint native Jerry Kramer since it was announced during the Super Bowl week that he was voted into the NFL Hall of Fame, and this week figures to be no exception.

From announcing the Packers’ selection at the 2018 NFL Draft in Dallas, to presenting Sandpoint High School with a Hall of Fame plaque, Kramer has pretty much been on the go since the news he’d been waiting decades to hear finally arrived.

On Saturday, the former Sandpoint three-sport standout who starred at the University of Idaho and for the Green Bay Packers will join an absolutely loaded 2018 class that also includes Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Ray Lewis, Brian Dawkins, Brian Urlacher, Bobby Beathard and Robert Brazile in the hallowed halls of Canton.

As the starting guard on the Packers’ dynasty that won the first two Super Bowls under legendary coach Vince Lombardi, Kramer is most definitely the elder statesman of the esteemed class.

The NFL Network (Dish 154/DirecTV 212) will be busy all week showcasing the latest class, starting with the Gold Jacket Class of 2018 show on Thursday, Aug. 2 at 5 p.m. The show offers an inside look at the members of Pro Football Hall of Fame’s class of 2018 and their journey to Canton.

On Friday, Aug. 3 is the Hall of Fame Gold Jacket Ceremony on NFL Network at 6 p.m. Past inductees will honor the 2018 HOF class at the annual Gold Jacket Dinner on the eve of the Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony.

The official Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony will be broadcast live on Saturday, at 4 p.m. on the NFL Network. Tears of joy will no doubt be shared as the greatest athletes in their sport thank the family, coaches and teammates that helped them get where they are.

Kramer, a public speaker and storyteller of great renown, is sure to deliver a memorable induction speech.
