LIONS BEACH BBQ AGAIN A SUCCESS

A successful Beach barbecue was reported by members of the Sandpoint Lions Club as they wearily cleaned up after dark Sunday. President Don Engle and other Lions said the crowd was steady and the club made some money for its public projects. The prime Lions’ project is the city beach.

Water skiers finished competition after dark. Boat races were held in sweltering temperatures on a fairly calm lake. The crowd found the parachute jumps exciting and many stayed on to see the evening jump. Boats standing by had the four jumpers safely aboard in record time after each hit the water. The evening concluded with a well-attended slab dance.

It was a beautiful day for the event. The mercury was in the low 90s with a cloudless sky. Sandpoint was spared high humidity and was 10 degrees cooler than the rest of the Inland Empire.
