Registration now open for SSA fall soccer season

| August 4, 2018 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint Rec League is now accepting registrations for the fall season, with teams available for any and all players between 4 years-old and 12th grade.

Recreational soccer is a fun way to get outside, learn some soccer skills, and hang out with your friends. The cost is $50, and another $10 if your child needs a soccer jersey. Registration forms are available at the Sandpoint Library, at Sandpoint Sports in Ponderay (by Taco Bell) and by visiting www.sandpointsoccer.com.

Teams practice at the local elementary schools (Farmin-Stidwell, Washington, Kootenai, Northside and Sagle) and play games on Saturdays at Farmin-Stidwell fields. The league would love to have practices at Southside and Hope Elementary Schools, as well, if enough players and a coach sign up.

Practices start the week of Sept. 10 and games start on Sept. 22 and go through October 27. The coaches meeting is Sept. 10, then players will receive a call from their coach after that.

n Kick Start Soccer returns

Registration is also open for the 2018 fall season of Kick Start Soccer, open to any and all kids ages 2-4 years-old.

This is a fun soccer skills camp that meets weekly at the Forrest Bird Charter School Field. Each session will be on Tuesday, from 4-5 p.m., running from Sept. 18 through Oct. 16, for a total of five sessions.

Kick Start is coached by Joel Asipuro, a high-energy coach who loves soccer and loves kids. Assistant coaches are Strikers U14 players.

The program fees are $40, which will include a T-shirt with your child’s name on the back. Add $10 if you’d like a Size 3 soccer ball.

Registration forms can be pick one up at the Library or Sandpoint Sports. They can also be downloaded at www.sandpointsoccer.com.
