An economics article by Christopher Rugaber and a letter to the editor by Lee Santa in the same edition of the Daily Bee are a harbinger of the negative flood that we may experience at least until Nov. 7.
Mr. Rugaber, while reporting the good economic news about improving economic growth and personal incomes, took the opportunity to downplay nearly each favorable experience and to throw in the dark cloud of doubting the continuing possibilities. It reminds me of a fair-weather baseball fan saying, after a win streak has reached two games, that it probably will end soon. Any true competitor knows that nothing lasts forever, but to not dwell on the negatives, as negative thinking causes losing and, instead, to enjoy the winning and to focus on playing the sport the correct way going forward. The results will take care of themselves.
Mr. Santa bemoaned President Trump’s personal flaws and ignored his favorable accomplishments. It would be far better to pray for a personality reformation and be thankful for the current results. Increasingly, it appears that most media sources will be trying to convince Americans that very little is good in America, or if it is, it will end soon. The next 90 days will be a test of our belief that America is growing rather than stagnating and that the glass is half full.
