Mary Ellen Ellis, 90, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Private family services have been held.
Mary was born on October 2, 1927, in Syracuse, New York, to Charles and Jenny Hober. She grew up and attended schools in Philadelphia.
Mary raised three children as a hard-working single mother. She married Jim Ellis in 1974 in Fresno, California, and relocated to Sandpoint in 1978. Mary owned the GoodTimes Parlor on First Avenue in Sandpoint.
She volunteered many hours at the library literacy program and helped several students earn their GED.
She is survived by three children, Carol (Don) Buckley of Idaho Springs, Colorado, Ron Clark of Denver, Colorado, and Cathy Ray of Post Falls, Idaho; five grandchildren, Erin, Jessica, James, Chris, and Masha; one great-granddaughter, Aunnika; and a sister, Josephine Garland of Tampa, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lillian; and husband, Jim Ellis, in 2016.
