Sharks post wins at season-ending IES Long Course Championships

PASCO, Wash. — A host of SWAC Sharks posted top finishes and personal bests at the Inland Empire Swimming Long Course Championships recently in Pasco, Washington, in the final club swim meet of the season.
The outdoor meet was a scorcher, but it didn’t stop Ryleigh Bamer from re-setting a Sharks’ team record to win the 50 fly, while she also took fourth in the 200 free and 5th in the 50 breast in a strong all-around display.
The other Sharks’ win was posted by Payton Bokowy, who won the 100 free in a final tune-up competition before she competes for Washington State this fall as a freshman.
“It was hot in Pasco for the meet,” said Sharks coach Mike Brosnahan. “But the kids swam their best of the season with awesome races and many PR swims.”
Hayden Norling finished third in the 1,500 free and fourth in the 400 free, distance events that are easier to swim in the longer, outdoor Olympic sized pool. Caleb Norling was fifth in both the 400 and 100 free, and like his brother, posted some PRs on the day.
Julia Cummings posted PRs in every swim and made top finals, no easy accomplishment in the huge meet, taking fifth in the 200 back and seventh in the 100 free.
Other top 10 finishes were turned in by Mikayla Schoening (5th 100 free) and Autumn Morgan (6th 100 breast). Many of the Sharks will be starting the high school swim season soon for the Bulldogs, who once again will field a strong squad.
