| August 10, 2018 1:00 AM

Judith Ann (Goullette) Maphis, 69, passed away on Wednesday, August, 1, 2018, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint. A reception will follow.

Judith was born on October 8, 1948, in Sandpoint to Keith and Dorothy Goullette Sr. She grew up and attended schools in Sandpoint. Judy married Jimmy Lockwood and they had a daughter, Lynnette. Jimmy was killed in the Vietnam War in 1966.

Judy worked as a candy striper at Bonner General Hospital after she had Lynnette. Judy worked as a certified nursing assistant at Odd Fellows Plaza and worked in laundry at Life Care Center.

She married Terry Clay Sr. in 1970, subsequently divorcing. Before moving to the San Juans, Judy visited her daughter Tina, who picked up Judy’s love of gardening and sewing, in Pennsylvania. After that visit, Judy kept her word, never returning to visit because of the humidity! Judy moved to the San Juan Islands to live and work near her children Tawnya and TG before retiring and coming home to Sandpoint in 2011. In Sandpoint she was part of a multi-generational home, living with Lynnette, Vern and Jimmy, her grandson, with whom she shared many laughs and memories. Judy’s granddaughter Kayleen works at Life Care Center so she was able to enjoy her company often, as well as that of Kayleen’s children. Though the other grandchildren and great grandchildren didn’t live nearby, they always lived in Judy’s heart where they were loved.

Her favorite pastimes were camping, picking huckleberries, fishing, gardening, and watching Judge Judy.

She is survived by her four children, Lynnette Weinand (Vern Harris) of Sandpoint, Tina (Chuck) Frankert of Clariton, Pa., Tawnya (Ricky) Rebman of Orcas, Wash., and T.G. Clay Jr. of Friday Harbor, Wash.; eight grandchildren, Jimmy, Kayleen, Allisha, Kyra, Kirsten, Caitlin, Brandon, and Wesley; five great-grandchildren, Kayarie, Caydance, Donovan, Harmony, and Serenity; and two brothers, Keith (Corky) Goullette, Jr and Jim (Patti) Goullette, both of Sandpoint.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy Lockwood, and her in-laws, Cleo and Emma Lockwood, whom she loved and respected.

Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Judy’s online memorial at lakeviewfuneral.com and sign her guest book.
