SANDPOINT — When you put on a great event for a great cause, as 24 Hours for Hank has done for so many years to help find a cure for Cystinosis, it can reach people from far away places.

In this case, it reached as far as the United Kingdom, home of Scott Henry, who took part in last spring’s 2,400 Feet of Schweitzer skiing fundraiser for 24 Hours for Hank, where he met the local event namesake Henry Sturgis.

“Living in England for so many years has done nothing to dampen my love for northern Idaho,” wrote Henry in an email, recalling a fun experience. “It was an honour to meet Hank, to make some new friends and ski in the event this past March.”

Henry passed along a picture of him bringing a Daily Bee to this year’s Wimbledon tennis tournament, in the hopes it could be used to promote the upcoming Swing For a Cure Golf Tournament and Cystinosis fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. at Stoneridge Golf Course. Registration starts at noon.

“I figure not many people read the Daily Bee while at the men’s semifinals at Wimbledon,” joked Henry in the email. “I would like to ask everyone to please come out and support the golfing event for Hank in August. I look forward to another great ski season and hopefully will be able to take part in the 2019 fundraiser in some way.”
