When any of us write letters on our beliefs, it is important that our facts are correct. I feel very short on this in a recent letter concerning Obama’s GNP and unemployment rate. I feel very bad about putting out incorrect figures in that earlier letter.

The average unemployment rate under Obama in 2016 was 4.86 percent. And this year under Trump, thus far, averages 3.98 percent.

(data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS14000000)

Concerning GDP, The highest recorded quarterly GNP under Obama was 5.1 percent and falling to an average of 1.87 percent (1.5, 2.3, 1.9, 1.8) in 2016. In 2017 Trump’s GNP average was 2.47 percent (1.8, 3.0, 2.8, 2.3) and, so far this year, the two quarter average is 3.15 percent (2.2, 4.1). (multpl.com/us-gdp-growth-rate/table/by-quarter)

Most of all I want to thank my more liberal friends for calling me about this mistake in most thoughtful and caring manners. Hope I will always be able to emulate that.
