Post Falls downs Sandpoint in season opener

| August 24, 2018 1:00 AM

POST FALLS — Tessa Sarff had 12 kills and two blocks as the Post Falls Trojans swept the Sandpoint Bulldogs 25-21, 25-22, 25-14 in the nonleague season opener for both teams Thursday night at The Arena.

The Bulldogs had their moments in the first two sets, which were there for the taking, but could not close the door on the Trojans (1-0), who seemed to have an answer.

“When Sandpoint made a run we were able to stop it quickly and regain the momentum,” said Trojans coach Matt Barkley.

The game marked new Bulldog head coach Jeff Hurst’s return to the sideline, taking over for Erin Roos. Hurst coached the Bulldogs to four state title in his previous stint.

Sandpoint is at the Lewiston Invitational on Saturday.
