Power hitting and serving helps Sandpoint sweep Bonners Ferry

BONNERS FERRY — The Sandpoint varsity and JV volleyball teams both swept the Badgers in nonleague volleyball on Thursday night at Bonners Ferry High School.

The Bulldogs (4-4) finished with 16 service aces with only five misses in three sets, and finished 31 of 53 on kill attempts.

“It was hammer time,” said Bulldogs head coach Jeff Hurst. “The kids played great, attacks came from all angles front and back. Our serving was unstoppable.”

The Bulldogs tallied 33 total digs for the match and only eight were not converted for points, which is a great ratio. The team continues to put in hard workouts every day on the sand courts at City Beach, and the hard work is starting to pay off.

“The kids’ fitness, speed and power is like nothing that has been seen for quite some time and we are just getting started,” said Hurst.

No individual stats were reported.
