Christmas adding holiday cheer to week's events

SANDPOINT — We’ve turned the corner into December and Santa’s name seems to be popping up all over. Along with myriad Christmas events, there’s jazz tonight with Bright Moments at Matchwood Brewing Co. and big doings downtown Friday evening for the Girls’ Night Out shopping extravaganza.

The always-awesome Bonner Mall holiday craft show gets underway Friday, as well, and Saturday brings Comedy Night to the 219 Lounge.

And there’s a holly, jolly host of other items waiting to be explored:

Thursday, Dec 6

Bonner General Health Parade of Trees

Venue: Bonner General Health classrooms, located at 520 N. Third Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

The annual Bonner General Health Parade of Trees silent auction closes today at 4 p.m.

Admission: Free and open to the public.

Jazz Thursday with Bright Moments

Venue: Matchwood Brewing Co., 513 Oak St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5-8 p.m.

Join Matchwood Brewing and Sandpoint’s favorite jazz combo, Bright Moments, for a spectacular night out.

‘Wildlife’

Venue: Panida Little Theater, 304 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6:30 p.m.

‘Wildlife’ is the story of 14-year-old Joe, the only child of Jeanette a housewife and a golf pro in a small town in 1960s Montana. Nearby, an uncontrolled forest fire rages close to the Canadian border, and when Jerry loses his job he decides to join the cause of fighting the fire, leaving his wife and son to fend for themselves.

‘Nutcracker & the Four Realms’

This family fantasy adventure film transports a young girl into a magical world of gingerbread soldiers and an army of mice.

Friday, Dec. 7

‘Girls’ Night Out’ shopping event

Venue: Downtown Sandpoint merchants.

Time: Participating retailers stay open ‘til 8 p.m.

Ladies, this is your shopping Nirvana, just in time for the holidays. Downtown merchants are staying open late to host a variety of specials and demonstrations.

Swing & Line Dancing

Venue: Panida Little Theater, 304 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Line dancing lessons open the evening, then put it to practice from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Country Swing lessons to follow, then jump in with both boots 7:30-8:30 p.m. Presented by the Country Swingers and the Panida.

Admission: $8 for one class, $15 for both, available at the Panida Little Theater.

Bonner Mall Holiday Arts & Crafts Show

Venue: Bonner Mall, 300 Bonner Mall Way, in Ponderay

Time: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (Also Dec. 8 and 9)

Enjoy holiday shopping with more than 35 magical vendors offering unique and special crafted gift items.

Time: 5-7 p.m.

The brews are expansive and the music magical, as the fabulous Bright Moments hit the stage for an evening of great jazz.

‘A Tiny Miracle’ Christmas Show

Venue: Circle Moon Theatre, located on Highway 211, 3 1/2 miles north of Highway 2, near Newport, Wash.

Time: 6:30 p.m. dinner service, curtain opens at 7:30 p.m. – Fri. Dec. 7 (Additional show on Dec. 8)

Celebrate the magic, beauty, and joyful song offered in ‘A Tiny Miracle’ – the annual Christmas production of Northwoods Performing Arts.

Admission: $35 per person for dinner and show, or $12 for show only. Senior and children tickets are $10.

Chorale Coeur d’Alene Christmas concert

Venue: Trinity Lutheran Church, 812 N 5th St., in Coeur D’Alene.

Chorale Coeur d’Alene brings you ‘Christmas by Candlelight’ – a concert of traditional Christmas and Advent music to lift the spirit and feed the soul with a mix of styles and concluding with a sing-along of favorite carols.

The Post Falls High School Troubadors will also join the Chorale and present a set of their own holiday selections.

Breakfast with Santa

Join that magic man in the red suit for pancakes, scrambled eggs, ham, orange juice, coffee and hot cocoa. Proceeds benefit Sandpoint Youth Center.

Patricia Ragone Art Reception & Dwayne Parsons

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301, Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Patricia Ragone creates brilliant and colorful images with acrylics and watercolor. Dwayne Parsons on the piano is the perfect accompaniment.
