At First Lutheran, the congregation celebrates the Advent season with scripture, song and festive decorations that help them anticipate the birth of the Christ Child. The community is invited to celebrate with them.
On Sunday, Dec. 16: the scripture verse is John 1: 1-18. Music will be by Anna Hughes, “Redeeming Grace” a spiritual. The community is invited to attend.
On Dec. 19, a soup supper will be held at 6 p.m., followed by Holden evening prayer in the chapel at 7 p.m. with the service leader and congregation singing. Offerings from Wednesday services will be donated to community needs.
On Sunday, Dec. 23, the scripture verses are Isaiah 9:6 and Matthew 2:1-12.
On Monday, Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, scripture verse is Luke 2:1-20 ans the Calm and Bright Series builds toward this night when the congregation lifts its candles and join their voices in singing “Silent Night”, a yearning for the Savior’s birth. “All is calm, all is bright, round yon virgin, mother and child, heavenly infant so tender and mild, sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace.”
At 5 p.m. the music will be led by Spirit Sounds; and at 7:30 p.m., the music will be led by the organist and choir.
Scripture verse on Sunday, Dec. 30, is Revelation 21: 1-6.
