The Avista sale to Hydro One was a very bad deal from the start. There is one person in this North Idaho community that Avista customers might want to thank, for his role in the failure of this international merger deal. Angelo Lonzisero of Sagle was one of a very few who attended a meeting in Couer d’Alene in early 2018. Mr. Lonzisero’s stand was in direct opposition to the Federal Energy and Regulation Commission and the Idaho Public Utilities Commission staff, who were both in favor of the Avista / Hydro One merger. Mr. Lonzisero made significant financial contribution in the hiring of attorney Norm Samenko.

The merger required the voter approval by the state utility commissioners of all five states; Montana (yes), Alaska (yes), Idaho (staffers — yes), Oregon and Washington. Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission was the first to the table to deliver the internationally undesired disapproval. This was a major win for sovereignty against integrated international and socialist desires. WUTC news found at http://bit.ly/2rBi8Vb provides a summation of the most egregious faults of the merger plan. Constitutional issues were similarly known to the citizen opponents in Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

It is assumed that the Idaho PUC, including one of three commissioners being locally known, Eric Anderson, will have to vote against the merger plan and IPUC staff’s original recommendation in the days ahead, if not already.

Not enough thank yous can be provided to Angelo Lonzisero for being insightfully dedicated in pursuit of success.
