Washington Elementary fourth-grader Sophia Taylor, fifth-grader Jasey Treman, and sixth-grader Terra Converse were the winners of the school’s Veterans Day writing contest for each of their respective grades. The students in fourth- through sixth-grades submitted essays explaining what Veterans Day means to them. The essays were scored and the top essay from each grade was chosen. The winning students read their essay in front of the entire school, parents, and veterans at the Washington Elementary Veteran’s Day assembly in November. (Courtesy photo)
