NEW GE STORE OPEN ON FIRST AVE.

An appliance store, Kelbetts General Electric, was opened last week by two North Idaho men, Ben Tibbetts of Sandpoint and Phil Kelson of Bonners Ferry. The store is on First next to Seas Finance, near First and Main. They will handle the General Electric line of television, stereos and white appliances and will offer appliance service in Sandpoint. Store manager is Mrs. Ruth Allen.

BIBLE SERVICE AT ST. JOSEPH”S

Christmas services at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church will begin at 11:30 p.m. with a Bible service Christmas eve, said Rev. A.V. Dulberg, priest of the church at Sixth and Oak. After the service will be the blessing of the Creche and solemn Midnight Mass. The services are part of the new program of the Second Vatican Council.

Dec. 18, 1918 — CITY BREVITIES

Thorrel Wilkins and Alvin Colomb arrived home yesterday from Los Angeles, where they attended the California state army training school.

Mrs. Nelson Thompson, 522 N. Fourth, is the first Sandpoint mother to get a letter from her soldier boy in France written after the close of the war. On the day after the signing of the armistice, her son, Thomas, wrote that the Germans had been weakening for days on the front where he was located and the surrender was fully expected. The only way to celebrate victory in his vicinity was the ringing of a church bell, which the young man said was being done to the limit.

Parents are warned not to allow their children under 16 to visit picture shows or entertainments unless accompanied by parents. Health officials say some children are kept home from school in fear of the flu, but are left to “run wild” at night.

John J. Reed, Clarksfork, wrote Auditor McCrea asking that his nephew, Harold Reed, be placed on the county honor roll. The 15-year-old died of pneumonia in France September 26.
