Sandpoint Parks and Recreation is offering a Youth Basketball league for grades 3-8. The league runs from Feb. 9 to March 16, 2019. The focus is on fun and fundamentals for both the girls and boys teams. Practices are held once per week at area schools. Games are played on Saturdays. Sandpoint youth sport jersey is required.

Registration deadline is Monday, Jan. 6, 2019. Registration fee is $38 per player (or $33 in-city discount). Discounts are availible for several players in the same family. Jerseys cost $14 apiece, but scholarships are available ($50 max awarded per child per booklet).

GYMNASTICS: RHYTHMICS & ACROSPORT

Rhythmics is an activity that combines elements of ballet, gymnastics, dance, and manipulation of balls, clubs, hoops, ribbon and rope into skills and routines to music.

Acrosport uses partners and groups working together to perform acrobatic skills of tumbling, lifts, balances, tosses and catches of partners in combination with dance. Gymnasts of all sizes are needed. Bases are bigger and strong. Tops are petite. All lessons are taught in a recreational format. Wear athletic clothing that is not too baggy and tie up shoulder-length hair.

Both activities are co-ed, specifically for children ages 6-18. These sessions are from Jan. 9 through Feb. 14, 2019. Registration deadline for this session is Jan. 5. Classes take place at Community Hall, which is located at 204 N. 1st Ave. Beginners classes are Wednesdays from 3:30–4:30 p.m; Intermediates classes are Wednesdays from 4:30–5:30 p.m. Advanced classes are Thursdays from 5-6 p.m. The fees are $43 per session ($5 in-city discount).
