'What are you telling me, God?'
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name.” Psalm 103:1
God, could You explain this to me a little more.
Just what is David the psalm writer talking about exactly?
What does it mean to bless You?
What do I have to bless You with?
If You looked real close You would see “all that is within me” doesn’t always add up to blessing.
My child, it’s very simple really.
You begin with Me. Try believing in My goodness.
Consider that I am Creator. That I created you.
Now put them together.
I have created something good when I made you.
I am satisfied with My creation.
Believe this and you bless Me.
But God, too much has happened.
Some things in my life haven’t turned out how You probably thought they would.
I’ve lost my way.
I must be a secret disappointment.
You’re just not telling me.
Now there you are wrong.
It’s true. I sent My Son to cover for you.
For those parts that ‘didn’t turn out’ as you put it.
But why do You think I did that?
Why do you think Jesus came to the world so willingly?
Because you are my creation.
Because I am satisfied with you.
Because you are worth saving.
Whew, You are a tough sell, God.
I’m trying hard to convince You I have nothing You’d want.
And You almost have me believing I really am a blessing to You.
That You are glad about me. That You forgive me.
That You’ll stick with me…because You want to.
I don’t know, but something inside me practically wants to explode.
To do this crazy dance.
This is a game changer, God. That You would care this much for me means everything!
Ah…there you go.
You’ve got it.
Now you’re in the groove.
All that is within you is blessing My holy name.
And you thought you couldn’t do it.
