Deadline to enter Super Bowl Challenge today at 5 p.m.

| February 2, 2018 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — As of Thursday evening, a total of 51 people have entered the free annual Bee Super Bowl Challenge, and chance to win $100 in cold, hard cash.

If you haven’t made a prediction, act quickly, as the deadline to enter the contest is tonight, at 5 p.m.

Per usual, Ken Blood dropped off his handwritten prediction on a piece of paper at the Bee front desk, as he’s done every year of the contest. It’s hard not to root for the people whose names you being to recognize after 12 years of running the contest, so maybe this will be Ken’s year. Or maybe it’s time for one of the Maucks, a family that enters every year without fail, to finally claim the prize.

One thing is certain, as Steve Forbert once sang in a song, “you cannot win if you do not play.”

Are you one of the people out there who watch the Super Bowl for the commercials as much as the action on the field? If so, the odds-makers expect the top-rated celebrity commercials to be: Morgan Freeman/Missy Elliott – Mountain Dew: 9/2; Peter Dinklage/Busta Rhymes – Doritos: 5/1; Jason Statham – Wix: 7/1; and Bill Hader – Pringles: 7/1.

In an era of divisiveness in the country, rumors are that the commercials will lean toward humor and unity, so stay tuned on Sunday to find out.

A couple of the better cross-sport prop best include: Odds someone makes a hole-in-one at hole No. 16 at the Waste Management Open on Sunday plus Tom Brady wins MVP: 115/1; and odds Tom Brady wins MVP plus Russell Westbrook records a triple-double Sunday against the Lakers: 13/2.

Unlike Vegas, you don’t have to lay down money to win money in the Bee Super Bowl Challenge. You just have to lay down a prediction.

To enter, email the winning team, final score and choice for MVP to eplummer@bonnercountydailybee.com.

See Sunday’s paper for a master list to follow along with as the game progresses.

Good luck, and may the most loyal fan win.
