Center holds pizza fundraiser today

| February 7, 2018 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — It is that time again where the community can eat pizza and help out the families of local seniors in the process.

The Papa Murphy's pizza fundraiser night raises money for the DayBreak Center Family Assistance Fund, which helps families of those with Alzheimer’s and other memory issues with the cost of the program.

The community can help out those families today by calling or going in to Papa Murphy’s Pizza in Ponderay and ordering a pizza or other menu item — online orders do not count toward the fundraiser. Please take in a copy of the coupon or show it on your mobile device, or simply tell them you are there for DayBreak if you forget the coupon.

The DayBreak Center is a day program/social center for seniors, especially for those with some type of memory impairment who are being cared for by their families. It gives the family caregiver some time for themselves when they bring their senior to DayBreak for a few hours during the day.

DayBreak Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and the cost is $10 per hour. People can stay for 1 hour or all day. As an example, if someone attends for 4 hours three or four times a week the cost can be between $480- $640 a month. Many families who need a break from caregiving cannot afford this, so if the center can keep money coming into its Family Assistance Fund, it helps the families each month.

If you don’t care for pizza, another way to help is to send a donation to DayBreak Center with "Family Assistance Fund" on the memo line.

For information on openings, contact the center at 208-265-8127.
