Chamber honors Harris, shopping district

SANDPOINT — The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors is pleased to announce Deanna Harris and the Sandpoint Shopping District have been selected as the chamber’s volunteers of the month for their commitment to the community.
The Sandpoint Shopping District was started 10 years ago by Ranel Hanson, former owner of Zany Zebra, she was the initial driving force behind the group. Harris in now leading this group of dynamic business owners, with about 15-20 businesses participating. The three main events they support are Spring for Sandpoint (held in April), Fall for Sandpoint (held in September) and the holiday events. The Sandpoint Shopping District also hosts Shop for a Cause, partnering with local non-profits several times during the year.
The shopping district assisted with putting up the lights in the trees downtown for the holidays and will also be helping with the flower basket program in the spring.
