Feb. 13, 1968 — ODEN-SUNNYSIDE NEWS

Mrs. Tom Wilson and Mrs. Perry Larkin traveled to Coeur d’Alene Friday. Mrs. Wilson visited her mother, Mrs. W.M. Fisher, and Mrs. Larkin spent the day with her daughter, Mrs. Leo Miller.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Method sold their farm and are in the process of moving to a new home on Cedar street in Sandpoint. They have been active in community affairs and will be missed.

Mrs. Brian O’Meara and Mary returned home Friday from Spokane, where they had visited three days with Mr. and Mrs. Gary Finer. Mrs. Finer is Mrs. O’Meara’s sister.

MRS. RON MAY HEADS HEART DRIVE

Mrs. Ronald May, Sandpoint, has accepted the post as Bonner chairman of the Idaho Heart Assn. She will be assisted in her county-wide activities by E.F. “Bud” Ayers, with Mrs. Ralph Chicks as co-community chairman of Sandpoint.

MERCHANTS PLAN EVENT

The first of this year’s customer friendship promotions planned by the Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce is a three-day George Washington’s Birthday sale. Planning the Feb. 22-24 event are chamber director Ed Abromeit and Darold Sauer Jr., committee chair. “You might say we like our country’s father so well we decided to celebrate his birthday three days in a row,” they said.

Senator R.N. Jackson is confined to his home these days, the victim of a mild form of smallpox.

Persons using the Great Northern hereafter will find bus fare to the depot reduced to 25 cents instead of 50 cents as was formerly the charge.

BAN ON SALE OF HENS AND PULLETS

Beginning yesterday the sale and shipment of live or freshly killed hens and pullets is forbidden, by order of the national food administration. The order went into effect yesterday and applies to all producers and dealers in poultry. Its purpose is to augment egg production by stopping killing of egg-producing chickens during hatching season and to foster the raising of poultry.

NEW FOOD CONSERVATION DEMANDS

The government now asks for two Wheatless days — Monday and Wednesday — and for a meatless day on Tuesday with a porkless day on Saturday. Until March 13th there will be no ban on other meats than pork in our state.

PATRIOTIC SONG GATHERING

The patriotic song gathering, part of a program by school children of the whole country, will be under auspices of the Parents-Teachers assn. and will occur at the Liberty February 21. Children from various schools will take part. The general public is invited to join in the singing.
