Elizabeth Helen Reese, 84, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018.
The Rosary will be said at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Dennis C. Day officiating. Inurnemnt will take place in the Washington State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
Elizabeth was born in Detroit, Mich., on Feb. 20, 1933. In 1943, the family moved west. They lived in North Idaho for a brief time before moving to California and lived in the San Francisco area for a number of years.
She attended Mt. St. Mary’s Boarding School in Grass Valley, and graduated from in 1949. The family then moved to the Los Angeles area, and she worked for Owl Rexall Drug and Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, Calif., as a comptometer operator.
She enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1951, and worked in Disbursing until she was discharged in 1953. Sgt. Schultz met TSgt. Ben Reese after he returned from Korea in August 1952 and they married on Dec. 19, 1952 at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Chapel, in San Diego, Calif. She and Ben celebrated 63 years of marriage on Dec. 19, 2015.
With his military service, they lived in California, Washington, Mississippi, and Massachusetts. Upon retiring in 1967, the family moved to North Idaho, and lived in the Rose Lake area, and then Boise.
In 1976, they moved back north and lived in the Sandpoint area the rest of her life. Elizabeth was an active member in St. Joseph’s Church and enjoyed genealogy and her family.
They traveled extensively, with their motorhome throughout the U.S. and Canada.
High-lights of their travels, was a motorhome trip to Inuivk, Northwest Territories, a trip to Korea and a German freighter trip around the world in 80 days for their 50th anniversary.
She is survived by her children, Karla Reese of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Michael Reese, his wife, Laurie of Martin Bay area and Theresa Reese, in Sagle; her grandchildren, Jessica, Vanessa and Nicolas; and great-grandchildren, Zachariah, Vivienne Grace, Kennedy, and Norah of Western, Wash.; nephews, Douglas Schultz and his wife, Christine and children, of California and David Schultz of Virginia; and niece, Carol Ann ( Schultz) Vento of New Jersey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Reese; her parents, Fred and Lucille Schultz; her sister, Mary Ann; and her brothers, Arthur and Ronald Schultz.
