John Eugene Low Jr.
John Eugene Low Jr. passed away unexpectedly in his home on February 11th,2018.
John was born on August 25th, 1948 in Newport Washington., he was the first child of John Eugene Low Sr and Donna Jean(Foss) Low.
John spent his formative years growing up in Priest River, Idaho, playing football and basketball at the local high school, he also enjoyed the time spent hunting and fishing with his dad. Growing up John developed lifelong friendships with Keith Naccarato, Ernie Belwood, Delbert Linton and Terry Bombino, it is rare thing these days to have friendships that endure for almost 7 decades.
Soon after graduation, John volunteered to enlist in the Army, and was quickly deployed to Vietnam from February of 1967 to January 1969, after which he received an honorable discharge. John returned to the Spokane area, where he met and married his first wife Leslie Denise Fraijo, and John’s first son, Anthony John Low was born later that year. John worked at Caterpillar Industries throughout the ’70s, and was later married to Janet Kay Poindexter in 1972, and their son Ryan Michael Low was born in 1977.
John eventually became a co-owner of GM Construction in the late ’80s, where he worked until his retirement in 2015.
John was an avid golfer, hunter and fishermen and passed on these passions to his sons. John loved to travel with his wife Lorna, and his lifelong friends, often taking trips to California, Hawaii and the Caribbean.
John was able to move into the house his father built on Priest River with his wife Lorna, where he lived out the rest of his life in the home that he cherished.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Noel Maria Low and Roxanne Harriman.
John is survived by his wife Lorna Low, sons Anthony Low, Ryan Low, and Michael Brown, grandchildren Dominic Low, Carmen Low, Alexandria Dexter, Aidan Maracich, and Conner Brown. Nieces Shannon Hoss, Brooke Ramsey, numerous grand nieces, nephews and cousins
Honorary pall bearers are Anthony Low, Ryan Low, Michael Brown, Kevin Quinn, JP Ramsey, Dominic Low.
A celebration of John’s life will be held Feb. 24, 2018. Viewing begins at 11 a.m., service starts at 11:30 a.m. at the Sherman-Campbell Funeral Home in Priest River. There will be a gathering at Popeye’s at 1 p.m. following the service.
