Nellie Montella 'Monte' Bishop

Nellie Montella “Monte” Bishop passed away in the caring hands of Bristol Heights Assisted Living Community on Jan. 4, 2018.

Monte was born April 29, 1918, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Margaret and Cornelius McKinley.

When she was 12 years old, the family moved to Lost River, Idaho. Then, two years later, they moved to Helena, Mont., where she started high school. They then moved on to Thompson Falls, Mont., where she finished high school.

She met Clifford Weatherly at a dance. They were married Nov. 1, 1936. Cliff worked in construction and they moved a lot. They were blessed with three sons, Glen Weatherly, Gene Weatherly, and Dick Weatherly. The family moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1943. They bought a farm in Careywood, Idaho, in 1947, and named it The Palamino Ranch.

Monte was very involved in 4-H all through her life. She was the first 4-H leader in the Careywood Eager Beavers club, which gegan in 1949. Monte was always happiest when she was with her horses on the ranch.

She was a charter member of the Sanpoint Saddle Club, always enjoying the wonder of the forever friendships.

She had nine grandchidlren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
